Nigel Adkins has said that youth will play it's part next season.
Speaking to BBC Radio Solent the gaffer said that his aim was to get 50% of our homegrown players through to the first team, so all levels within the club were working towards the same aim.
'We endeavour to get 50% of our homegrown players through to the first team. It's about a spirit that we've got, a Southampton way. We've got a good environment to improve , to learn, to work hard and develop. The object is to get them through, we've got to make sure there's a pathway for them. That's the vision we've got.'
With the ever growing financial elements in the Premier League, continuing to produce our own - and increasing our success rate - will go a long way to improving our first team, and also generating money to reinvest.
A good youth policy will go a long way to improving us further.
