Jos Is The Way Forward

Jose Fonte has said he's looking forward to who Nigel Adkins targets in the summer, but added he agreed with the message from the manager that any new arrivals will have to match the ethos in the squad, both on and off the pitch, and pointed to the signing of Jos Hooiveld of how we've got that right in the past.



Speaking to saintsfc Fonte said the character of new arrivals was just as important as their talent.

'He (Hooiveld) had a great season and I'm very happy for him because he works hard. He's scored 8 goals, he helped the team, he helped us by scoring and next year I'll aim to be the one who comes out on top!'

Fonte says he quickly struck up a friendship with Jos, and that he's the perfect example, because of his personality, of the types of character we should be looking to add.

'We became friends really quickly, we have things in common. He's a very funny guy who makes everyone laugh, so it's easy to connect with him. It depends on the character. We've some experienced players and we have young players who are all good people. At this club the mentality is - together as one. It's important to bond and to connect with each other.'
