Adkins Delighted With Prem Start

Adkins Delighted With Prem Start

Nigel Adkins has said he is delighted to see us start the campaign against some of the top sides in the league describing it as a 'tantalising prospect'.

Speaking to saintsfc as he gave his reaction to us being drawn against Manchester City, Manchester United, Everton and Arsenal in the first six games of the new season, Adkins said.

'It's great for us, absolutely fantastic. It's been a long summer already and we've been working hard behind the scenes, now we've got the fixtures the reality is here. Man City away is our first game, and Man United, Wigan, Everton, Arsenal...great fixtures aren't they.'

Admittedly Adkins has just upset the owners of Vital Football by not listing Aston Villa, who we face before Everton, but I think most of us will just smile at that!

Adkins has a fantastic mentality to the games though, and he continues.

'We go to Manchester City and I don't think we'll be expected to win up there so it's all to gain, isn't it? We'll go and be positive. We're in the league on merit, we've earned the right to be there. We've got to be positive in everything we do and go with the mentality to win them.'

Attractive, attacking football from newly promoted teams seems to win them fans - I imagine Adkins will be oft talked about next season!

You wait till JF sees that! I'm sure we'll be memorable for Adkins when we visit! :-)
