Jay Rod Is A Great Addition

Jay Rod Is A Great Addition

Rickie Lambert and Jack Cork have said that Jay Rodriguez is a fantastic signing for the club, and they've tipped him to be a success in the Premier League.

Speaking to saintsfc as we edge closer to the start of the 2012/13 campaign, Lambert spoke about his fellow PFA Championship Team of the Year entrant joining the club, with everybody hoping they can again fire in 52 goals between them over the coming season.

'Last year I felt he was a very good player, he's a good signing for us and I'm very much looking forward to playing alongside him.'

Jack Cork, is a former teammate of Jay's from their time at Burnley, and he was really excited at seeing him join up at St Mary's.

'Jay Rod is a striker who's got a bit of everything really. He's quick, he's strong, a good header of the ball, and he can score a variety of goals. Like all the lads he'll be trying to break into the side so I think pre season training will be as sharp as anything.'

And as for what next season might hold? Nobody knows for sure, but there are some guarantees as Cork adds.

'It's a big statement from us to say that we're prepared to fight and stay in this league, we won't go down easily.'

Still think Saints might prove to be the surprise package next year. The signing of Rodriguez for the reported £7m fee is a hell of a statement of intent from the club, and one that should work out.
