'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Clyne Looking To Push On

Nathaniel Clyne has said he sees Southampton as the perfect place to develop him further as a player, and he's looking forward to challenging for Europe under Nigel Adkins.

Speaking to saintsfc after finalising his four year deal with the club, Clyne said.

'I'm overwhelmed really. As soon as I heard that Southampton were in for me, I was happy and I knew that this was the place where I could try to improve my football, further my career and get a chance to play in the Premier League. It's a club with a lot of ambition - the gaffer told me that they would want to be pushing for Europe.'

Nigel Adkins said of the capture of the highly rated right back.

'We're delighted that we can finally announce that we've brought Nathaniel Clyne into the group. For the last three years Nathaniel has been a very attack minded fullback who bombs on. All being well, we can push him onto the next level now.'

It seems so far that a fee hasn't been agreed with Crystal Palace, so we may still have to go to a tribunal to organise that element of his switch.
