Michael Svensson Makes Comeback

Michael Svensson Makes Comeback

Michael Svensson made his eagerly awaited comeback from injury against Bournemouth reserves at the Fitness First Stadium last night.

Svensson was able to play 65 minutes of the game which Saints won 3-1 with a hatrick from goal machine David McGoldrick.

Svensson was happy with his latest comeback and told the official site after the game: 'It just felt good to be playing again.' However, he did not put any time scale on his return to first team action.

He told www.saintsfc.co.uk:

'I couldn't say how long it will be before I can be involved with the first team again but at the moment it would be stupid to try and rush things.'

The news will come as a lift for Saints fans who have seen their team throw away points against Derby County and Preston after they had taken the lead. Svensson's presence in the defence will be a huge plus once he is fit.

Svensson has been out since 2004 when he was injured in the warm up at Fratton Park, a game Saints lost.

The Swedish defenders absence in the subsequent season was highlighted by many fans as a major factor in the club's relegation. Svensson was also a key part of the Gordon Strachan team which reached the FA Cup final and reached a club record 8th placed finish in the league.
