Ramirez Confusion?

Ramirez Confusion?

Does anybody know what's going on with the reported transfer of the Uruguayan midfielder Gaston Ramirez?

The 21 year old has announced to Sky Sport Italian that a deal bringing him to Southampton is close.

'I know that it is not official yet, even if it is the right offer for Bologna. There are just a few details missing with Bologna for my transfer to the Saints.'

That didn't quite sit well with Bologna President Albano Guaraldi, who firstly pointed out that the reported fee of £11.8m is well below their stated 'talking' price.

'Ramirez is contracted to Bologna and the club will decide upon his future, not the player himself. Ramirez's behaviour is totally unacceptable, giving open interviews like that without consulting us. Gaston cannot force my hand with two interviews. I've already said it will take €20m to sell him.'

Speaking at a press briefing earlier today Adkins himself commented.

'It looks exciting doesn't it? I think he has come out in Italy and said it is already sorted, but I think you'll find the policy of the football club is until the player has signed on the dotted line and we announce it then really we try to do everything privately. If it's true, it obviously shows the ambition of the football club. I know the chairman is very ambitious here.'

So that's a yes then really, we just haven't agreed the details.
