Ramirez Deal Official

Ramirez Deal Official

Southampton have tonight announced that we have completed our capture of Uruguayan international Gaston Ramirez.

Despite all the rumours and the media play, the club say the deal was agreed and processed over 10 days ago with a work permit appeal successfully granted last Friday.

Ramirez has signed a four year contract although Saints haven't disclosed the fee.

Speaking to saintsfc as the deal was announced, Nigel Adkins said.

'A lot of hard work has gone in from the club with a lot of negotiations behind the scene. Great credit to everyone because we have a young, exciting talent joining us who is one of the best around. There is a lot of ambition at the club and we are all delighted that Gaston is going to come and join us.'

It's just that isn't it. Nobody knows if he'll work out, but the club are certainly spending to make a statement. I can't not look at Man City and wonder how close we are?
