Adkins - Stand Up And Be Counted

Nigel Adkins has called on the team to stand up and be counted as the season continues after a very disappointing showing against Arsenal today.

Speaking to saintsfc following the thumping 6-1 defeat, Adkins said.

'It was a very poor scoreline having come away from home. Everyone knew that the first four fixtures were going to be challenging, but we want to win games of football. We've come away to Arsenal and I actually thought we started the game brightly, but we've then conceded an early goal and lost Jos to a calf injury. I'm a very positive person, so we'll analyse this then draw a line underneath.'

It is disappointing after how close we have been to points in previous games, but this was going to happen at some point, and it's all about how we respond, how quickly we learn from the errors and build on it. It's a long season, and there are plenty of games and points left for us to make it memorable, but we have to start taking our chances starting with the next game. If we can't do enough to win, then at least take a point from it.
