He's Some Player Isn't He - Lambert

Rickie Lambert has hailed the impact of Gaston Ramirez in today's game, describing him as 'something special'.

Speaking to saintsfc following the win, Lambert said of Ramirez.

'He's some player isn't it? He's something special, and I thought that he, Ads and Puncheon made my job much easier today. Any team when a player like Gaston comes in is just going to be improved. He was excellent today.'

As for the game itself, Lambert added.

'It was a great feeling to get the three points. We equilised and then I think we just went up a few gears and I thought we could have scored more. All credit to the boys.'

What the hell Green Villan? Southampton did well second half, most of it was down to inexperience from some of our players and just playing poor though. Disagree with your comment on our site Vital Saint, you are not ahead of us by 2-3 years, one of the most ridiculous things iv'e ever heard on the Vital network. You are a newly promoted side with a lot of spirit, you have had a torrid time so far and are obviously gonna throw everything at us and you did, but any other day and we could be hammering you and I expect that to happen when you come to VP. We are in a period where we are putting the pieces together, but hardly any of you or fans in the premier league have watched us or seen our players perform so you all are truly clueless...When we get going, we can take on anyone in the league and are easily still a top 10 side. When you have players like Bent, Vlaar, Ireland and the youngsters we have, you shouldn't write us off. We have a better team than you and pretty sure it will be yourself's in the relegation scrap come end of the season not us. I wish you luck but your comment is disrespectful considering how long we have been in the premier league and sick of ignorant people writing us off because of 1 bad season under Mcleish, proved it by killing of Swansea and taking Newcastle apart where they were lucky to get a point.

P.Avfc - 10/10 for confidence. Hope the young players have some of what you have got. January cannot come quick enough for me. Bottom 6 this season but hopefully a base to push on 2013-14.

That's the spirit P.Avfc. Give Lambert time and he'll come good, it's very early days. Re my comment, I'm on about playing style and ethos if I wasn't clear. Adkins has only tweaked things to suit the new players really, our baseline tactics and understanding throughout the team have been in place since the day he joined - hence we are ahead of you in playing to the strengths your manager wants, and the clear understanding of what the manager wants.

However, narrow loses against United and City show we haven't had a torrid time. Don't read as much into Arsenal as you are, especially given you aren't reading too much into our victory. You've had two good performances, we've had four and should've had points on the table.

No disrespect was meant though, I mustn't have made myself clear enough in my comments. But it's been two years of relegation battles for you.

Cropped, that's all you need. Give Lambert the time to get his base right and then build on it and you'll be fine.

Yeah I understand now Vital Saint and I agree, Atkins will have Southampton in terms of playing style etc in place where as Lambert has a lot to do still especially with the youngsters...will be a long season for both of us I reckon but i'd put other teams below us in time.

Cool, glad to clear that up. Maybe I shouldn't have been so brief but it was late and I was rather happy :-) I don't care where we finish this season as long as we stay up and start to establish ourselves, I really don't see you going down as you'll be 4 times better by even December, and to be honest if you'd took your chances and got that second goal, it might have been enough for it to be too far for us to come back from - and you certainly weren't at the level you showed against Swansea, so you can take heart from that despite the disappointment of the result.

As you say yourself you have players new to the league but who are also new to the club, and our squad at the core are already drilled which your other seniors haven't been because of the change gaffer, so for a while even if results don't go our way the performance levels won't alter much, whereas you'll be a little bit more up and down until everybody beds in properly.
