Butland Back On Adkins' Radar

The Redtops today are suggesting that Southampton will go back in for Birmingham goalie Jack Butland this window.

It's being suggested that despite having a 6million offer declined in the summer, with Birmingham's ongoing financial issues, it's believed we may be able to snare him for 5million this time round - that seems a bit of a stretch to me.

We are expected to make an official approach when Cortese returns from a break this week?

It's also speculated that Roberto Mancini is interested in the player, but if it is a battle between us you would think we'd have the upper hand as he wouldn't play second fiddle to Joe Hart.

Butland has not had the best of seasons so far at Birmingham and I very much doubt that he is worth that sort of money right now. As a prospect he might be ok but we already have Gazza as a prospect.

Agreed, but as said in the forum I wouldn't mind him coming him as 2-3 years down the line him and Gazzaniga battling for the No1 spot could see us very well covered....but with Davis and Boruc, having a 4th goal wanting pitch time could cause more harm than good.
