'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Players Pleased With Point

Jack Cork and Morgan Schneiderlin admitted the team were a little disappointed to not take all three points today, but they are more than pleased with a well earnt point.

Cork said following the game.

'It was a good point, I think we could've nicked it towards the end. The goal was unfortunate that they scored, but the lads put a real shift in today. We've had a tough week but everyone's worked really hard. It's been a busy Christmas period, but we're got a few points.'

Schneiderlin added.

'We knew before the game that this was going to be very hard, we knew they were going to keep possession and that we needed to keep a good shape and we did that. We were unlucky with the goal we conceded but we gave a good shift, we gave everything for each other.'

Interviews with Sky Sports.

Nice to see the players are working as a unit. That will be the one thing that will help improve our position. Working as a unit and plenty of team spirit.

We had all the spirit in the world to begin with didn't we, just not the nous. It now seems the fighting spirit has returned, but importantly we are a touch cleverer in how we approach games. Also no surprise to see our new players performing better now they have adjusted and I still don't believe for a second we have seen the best from Ramirez, he still seems lukewarm to me...the mind boggles when he hits hot. And a lot of that has to be down to our management structure. Nigel has learned quickly and now seems more able to pick teams suitable for whom we are playing. I don't think I have ever seen such a positive Saints manager before.

not only was I hoping for a Saints win, but I felt you played well and deserved at least the point

Think you need to sort your keeping situation out though

Hopefully oxfordspur Boruc will prove to be more than able to cope with the Premier League. Will make life a lot easier for him if we can keep on keeping opponents down to one shot on target mind.

Yup, whatever anybody thinks of Adkins, he hasn't been afraid to change things around to find the right formula, but he's done it in a way that really hasn't upset the camp or left anybody on the sidelines. Was always going to be a learning curve for him as well as the players, and he's coming out of it admirably - especially after the earlier worries when the press were right on is back.

Cheers oxfordspur, I genuinely think if we keep playing like that we'll be fine, as we will pick up points at a better rate than we have been. With confidence obviously boosted I can see us building up a buffer now.
