Adkins Sacked Over Transfer Disputes

It seems that Nicola Cortese and other members of Saints heirarchy were pulling in a completely different way to Nigel regarding possible targets for the club.

Apparently Gaston Ramirez was signed without his knowledge. Adkins was also disappointed when the club failed to sign his top central defensive target Bram Nuytick, instead bringing in Maya Yoshida.

The Mirror report says, Cortese is believed to have disagreed with the decision of Adkins not to sign a top-class goalkeeper in the summer, particularly as he was forced to make an emergency move for Artur Boruc outside the transfer window.

If this is true it does make sense for Cortese to find someone who is on the same wavelength as him. How this affects our academy hopes is another story.

The dictator is to be obeyed at all times now is he? Does that mean Mau is his new yes man? Gets worse but is understandable considering our goalie situation.

Rumoured that Cortese wanted a top goalie and we get Gazza. Hardly the same. If this conflict was outgoing then Nicola may have been clever by sorting things before acting.

A total lack of respect has been shown to Adkins as far as i'm concerned after all some of the football you have served up this season hasbeen fantastic.

We will be trying to show that again tomorrow night as well but don't expect an easy ride against your guys. Though it is looking as though there may have been more to Nigel's sacking, I expect us to keep playing in that way.

It's the biggest problem now, rumour and speculation about the real reason, often without quotes, will fill the pages, especially if Poch doesn't get off to a grand start.
