Cortese Talks To Sky Sports

Cortese Talks To Sky Sports

Since sacking Nigel Adkins Nicola Cortese has come in for a whole heap of criticism, but insists that as difficult as the decision was it was the right one.

'Nigel and I, we always had a very good relationship, to the last second,' Cortese told Sky Sports News. 'It was very tough, not just for him but for me.

'To me, there's one time, which is right, especially if you are 100% convinced it is the right thing. Ultimately for the team it was the right thing, it was perfect timing.'

'It sounds harsh but it was for the benefit of the progress we want to achieve over the next couple of months and years. It's not only for today but for tomorrow.'

To many it may have seemed an odd time for the change of manager but it looks as though Nicola is convinced it was in the best interests of the club that he acted when he did.

Considering the success that we have seen since Nicola arrived I think we have to trust his opinions even if they don't always agree with ours.

Our chairman needs to answer to nobody. Media circus stirring it, wat a surprise.

He is not as hard nosed as some suggest. Just does what ever he thinks is needed.

If he has anything to say he says it. Would like to see him bring MLT on board so we had less sniping from outside. See the Echo still continues it's attacks.

Don't have to agree necessarily, but good on him for doing the interview and hopefully drawing a line under it now.
