Injury News Ahead Of United

Some good, some bad, but Adam Lallana is close to a return.

Mauricio Pochettino has said that the training camp to Barcelona was the perfect chance for him to get to know the players, but we do have some niggly injury concerns ahead of the Old Trafford trip.

Speaking to saintsfc the new gaffer said.

'It was a very good week of work and a good atmosphere. We've got to know the players well and the players have got to know us. It was a very positive experience.

'Adam Lallana is doing well. He's definitely recovering well, but he needs rhythm to get back into competition. Jose Fonte is a no for Wednesday and he'll need some more time to recover. We also have an injury to Guly who has had a knock to his knee. He will also need some weeks to recover and we're not sure when he'll be back.'

Poch is also quoted by Talksport on Adam.

'Lallana may play against Manchester United or Wigan.'

Injury worries won't change any remaining plans for the January window though as the boss explains.

'We haven't made any requests for any new players, but we're watching the market to see if there are any developments. Overall we're very happy with the squad and we have players here capable of competing at this level in the Premier League. If we make a signing it won't be for the sake of a signing, it will be to improve what we have already.'

Guly being out as well leaves us short of options for the wings. I still don't expect Adam to play but maybe a few minutes at the end could be possible.
