Saints U21's Lose To Man Utd U21's

Saints were without Ben Reeves and Sam Hoskins who were on loan and Luke Shaw who is now a regular first team player. James Ward-Prowse was on the first team bench as well.

Southampton's Under-21s succumbed to a Manchester United late show, as two goals in the final seven minutes ensured the visitors took full points from Staplewood.

Cody Cropper cost the team dear in the second half though. First his mis-kick handed a simple kick into the net for United to equalize then he was dismissed for handling out of the box.

The free kick was scored and then United wrapped up the points with a tap-in.

Bad finish but until the Cropper incidents it had looked possible Saints could gain the win.

Cody won't be happy with his performance costing us so dear. He has usually seemed a sound keeper.

United's reserves are pretty hot, good for the future we made them work for it, especially if it was a clear error on our part and we then dropped to ten.

We came close to winning and without our Cropper coming a cropper we might have been able to hang on to the lead.
