'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Defeat Was Harsh

Mauricio Pochettino believes our 4-2 loss to Newcastle today was harsh on the team, and the final scoreline certainly distorts how the actual game went.

Speaking to saintsfc following the game, the gaffer commented.

'I don't think Newcastle really deserved to win the game but that's how it happened. In the first half we got on the scoresheet really quickly but from then on we struggled to manage the game. We did make some mistakes, particularly for their first goal.'

Poch did say though that the substitution of Luke Shaw was precautionary after he took a knock on his thigh, however he's pretty confident that it isn't serious and he expects him to be on contention for our next game.

We returned to our error strewn ways and handed them the points on a plate. Hope it is last time we do it.

On Luke I am glad he took the sensible option even if it maybe cost us the game.

Lots of us were wondering about the reason why Luke came off. He struggled at times but was doing a fair job overall and is still learning. Glad we are still looking after him. Poch's words also show how highly he is regarded.

Not happy how we lost. Fox at fault for last two goals.
