Saints Under 18's Win At Chelsea

Saints Under 18's maintained their winning streak as they dominated for long spells against Chelsea Under 18's.

After a goalless draw in January at St Mary's, Saints youngsters tore into the opposition from the off. Saints hammered at Chelsea`s goal early on, with Sam Gallagher, Harrison Reed, and Gboly Ariyibi all having efforts that tested the hosts.

The breakthrough came on 24 minutes when a Sam McQueen corner was powerfully headed home by Bevis Mugabi to put the Saints Under 18's in front.

A high pressure performance from Saints paid dividends in the 32nd minute, with that intensity forcing an error as Isaac Nehemie`s pass into the area was passed back towards goal by a Chelsea defender and rolled under the goalkeeper`s foot to cross the line for 2-0.

Then just before the break Sam Gallagher was brought down in the penalty area after rounding the keeper. Skipper Dominic Gape duly stepped up to send the ball home giving Saints youngsters a three goal lead.

HT 0-3

The second half showed Saints mainly in control although Chelsea did manage to score after Saints keeper had saved a shot but the ball was followed in by Chelsea who sent the rebound home.

The second half was more even but Saints ended up as comfortable winners.

FT 1-3
