Saints U21's Held By Liverpool U21's

Vegard Forren capped his debut with a goal but Saints' Under-21s could not hold out for a win against their Liverpool counterparts.

Forren looked like he was perfectly at home and showed that he could read the game, head the ball, and has a great left foot.

Forren almost grabbed himself an unlikely goal midway through the first period when he burst over halfway and exchanged passes with Rowe before seeing his vicious drive deflect narrowly wide of Peter Gulasci's goal.

Moments later a superbly-weighted pass out of the Reds' midfield set Morgan clear of Forren but, with only Gazzaniga to beat, the 18-year-old somehow slid the ball wide of the post.

But it was FORREN who scored the game's opener on the half-hour when another good corner by Rowe was not dealt with, allowing the Norwegian to power in from a tight angle.

To Saints dismay Liverpool gradually took control late in the second half before equalizing on 77 minutes through Adorjan. 'Pool continued to hold the upper hand but Saints were able to hold out

Boys did well until halfway through the second half and ran out of energy allowing Shelvey to start dictating play. Though Shelvey somehow avoided a second yellow card for blatantly kicking the ball away in anger yet Sinclair get's booked later for the same thing.
