'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hunter Pleased With Saints U21's

Talking to Saints Player Martin said 'It was a very good performance, particularly in the first half, in terms of what we asked the players to do, I am very, very pleased.'

'The whole purpose of this league is that you do play against some talented teams. Liverpool won their league at a canter before Christmas, so to play against the likes of the players that were on the pitch was great for the development and learning of our play'

Martin also had a good word to say about Vegard Forren. 'He's settled in really well,' Martin said of the Norwegian international. 'He was defensively assured and particularly good in possession of the ball, and to get a goal off the set-play was very good.'

The game was played at a good level and though the team was hanging on at the death we more than matched our illustrious opponents.

For me though the most important fact was that we saw the debut of our £4m centre back Vegard Forren and he was impressive. Another game and perhaps we will finally see him in our first team starting line up.

A good game to watch and several more than promising youngsters on view.

Bloody annoyed. Same failure as first team. Play well for an hour and then run out of puff. Not bloody good enough.

Any for the future in the side?
