Pochettino Would Consider His Own Position

Pochettino Would Consider His Own Position

Mauricio Pochettino has said that he would be forced to consider his position at the club if Nicola Cortese departed.

Following media speculation this week about problems between our chairman and the Liebherr Trust and the potential that Cortese may leave at the end of the month, Pochettino was obviously asked about this in his interviews today and he told saintsfc.

'I don't really like to speak about myself. Our merits are down to the players and Nicola Cortese, who is the person who created all of this and made it possible. I would not continue if Nicola wasn't there. He has basically created this reality for Southampton over the past four years, and the people who are behind the scenes in this club were a little bit worried about what has been said. In a personal sense, I would not understand a Southampton without Nicola being here.'

Very strong support indeed from our manager and Cortese clearly has a friend there as Poch being as blunt as he has been there certainly raises the stakes.

He continues to say that his future 'has to be with Nicola' as nobody knew who he was when he came to the club, but Cortese was the one who put faith in him, introduced him to the Saints project and they both laid out their combined vision for the club moving forward.

Poch says that there will be a series of meetings, and everybody is working towards next season anyway and he again states they want everything in place by July 1st.

'I have total confidence and faith that Nicola will be here next season, and that I will be here as well.'
