It Was Horrible -It Always Is

Rickie Lambert has talked about pre season fitness testing and all of the players came through with flying colours.

Speaking to saintsfc after finishing his VO2 max test, Lambert said.

'It was horrible - it always is. I feel good this year and I'm in good shape, but it doesn't matter how good a shape you're in, those last few minutes really hit home.'

The VO2 max test measures an individuals ability to use and transport oxygen during exercise and it involves players running at increasing speeds until their aerobic energy is fully taxed apparently. Sounds nice.

'It's good, it's made to be hard and it pushes you to your limits and it's good to have people at your side giving you support, it really pushes you on.'

In the interview Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach Nick Harvey explains more and talks about how the players have returned and the condition they are in.

The good thing is that Rickie says he is as fit as ever right now.
