Are Saints Still Chasing Leandro Damiao?

Are Saints Still Chasing Leandro Damiao?

Internacional have been insistent that they have not fielded any offers for 23-year-old Leandro Damiao, but his agent Jorge Machado has claimed talks are ongoing with an unnamed club.

'There is a club interested [in Leandro],' Machado told UOL.

'We have been talking with Internacional for many days, but we have to wait.

'Inter have set a value, which is very significant, so we need to have more talks.'

Internacional's director of football Luis Cesar de Souto Moura reiterated the club's position. 'There is no offer for Leandro Damiao,' he told Radio Guaiba. 'An offer for Leandro Damiao will only be considered if it's around €25 million,'

So the question is who to believe. Do we take what his agent or his club says as gospel? Even then nobody has confirmed or will confirm who this supposed club is though reports stemming from Brazil suggest it is Saints.

£20m is a huge sum for a player that has never played in England and could be a big stumbling block to any bid being made. I guess only time will tell.

These stories wet the appetite but then let you down. Not always gently either.

Like a lot of these rumours I think it is the agent trying to get his client to sign for another club so he can earn more.
