Pochettino Pleased With Great Effort

Mauricio Pochettino has said he was delighted with how the game against West Brom played out and he believes we more than deserved Rickie Lambert's late winner.

Speaking to Saintsfc following the game, the gaffer explained.

'We are very pleased because the team performed very well and put in great effort today. I think we actually deserved to win 2-0 because we were disallowed a goal in the first half, which should have been allowed to stand. West Brom is a very difficult place to come so overall we are very pleased.'

Pochettino described today as the 'first step of hopefully many more to come' this season as we look to improve on our finish last term, and unsurprisingly the manager also had plenty of praise for our competitive debutants and Rickie who has enjoyed a fantastic week so far.
