'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Poch - We Thoroughly Deserved That Point

Manager Mauricio Pochettino said he felt nothing but pride having seen Southampton take a very deserved point against Manchester City in our recent game.

Poch's reasoning is pretty simple really, we've had three defeats on the bounce and everyone can argue about how unfortunate those results actually were in hindsight, but we were also missing Nathaniel Clyne, Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin so having found ourselves behind in the game, Pochettino couldn't have been more pleased to see us get back on level terms and hold on for a share of the spoils to bring that losing run to an end.

And let's be fair, Ozzie's goal was a hell of a way to achieve that!

Speaking to saintsfc following the game, the manager said.

'I believe today was a fair result, we are actually a bit sad because I think we could have gone and got the win. I am always proud of my team, despite the bad results we have always shown good character.'

Poch goes on to say that this character was very much on show because for him we won the possession battle in the game against the best possession side in the league currently, so that was a huge plus point for him, and of course given our dominance over Aston Villa recently where the result didn't go for us, he was pleased that this one did and we made the possession count for something come the final whistle.

Dani Osvaldo will certainly have deserved his headlines following the game and that goal, and of course for him it's two in two now following his goal against Villa, and Pochettino took time out in his interview to praise the summer signing, saying he now feels with the confidence boost he'll have got this week that fans will really start seeing the best of him.
