Lovren Gets Croatia Call Up

Currently injured defender Dejan Lovren has been called up by Croatia for their upcoming friendly against Switzerland.

The 24 year old is in the recovery stage after injuring his ankle ligaments in the game against Sunderland back in January, but he did return to light training last week so that recovery is going well.

He has been selected in the Croatian 27 man squad for their friendly against Switzerland as they continue their build up to the World Cup finals and Lovren will be hoping to impress as this will be the first game since the appointment of Niko Kovac as their permanent head coach.

The game is set to take place on March 5th, and Lovren will join up with them following the game against Liverpool and return in time for the Crystal Palace match the following weekend.

This call up should be good news for us really as Lovren should be back in full training by then if I've got my dates right, so any game time he can get in the friendly will bring him that step closer to full match fitness and sharpness for our league campaign.

That is presuming he doesn't suffer any complications or a breakdown as he steps up is training schedule.
