Pochettino Credits Team Effort

Pochettino Credits Team Effort

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has credited the team togetherness in the victory over Crystal Palace yesterday.

A goal from Jay Rodriguez eight minutes before the half time break proved enough to separate both sides in what was a low chance encounter, but thankfully we had made more of the chances we had, and weren't really troubled by them overly at other points.

Speaking to saintsfc following the physical encounter, Poch was pleased with how we dug in and asserted ourselves on them and of course we come out of the match having set a new club record for the amount of away wins in the Premier League season which should give everyone a further little boost as we head towards the end of the campaign.

'We are very happy. We have suffered two recent unfair defeats because sometimes you play well in football and don't get the results that you deserve or anything positive and that happened in those two games. I thought the victory today was well deserved because we came here to a very tough ground, and got something very positive from the game so we are pleased.'

The gaffer goes on to say that he felt it was a 'great team effort' and it was also importantly the type of victory that everyone can learn a lot from, just as much as we have learnt a lot from the recent defeats.

Another great positive for our manager was that we continued to try and play our game on what he described as not being the perfect pitch for free flowing football, but whilst we dealt with the ball being in the air 'which is their style of play' we also got it down nicely and tried to play it around as best as we could when we were in charge.
