McQueen Signs Four Year Deal

McQueen Signs Four Year Deal

Southampton have announced that Academy Graduate Sam McQueen has now signed a new four year professional contract with the club.

The 19 year old winger, made his first team debut last season in our FA Cup quarter final against Sunderland, and the club have moved quickly to tie up the long term future of another talent expected to kick on in his development again this term.

He started his scholarship with us back in 2011 and has made good progress as he's moved through our youth levels, ultimately spending a fair amount of time last term working with the first team as a reward for his efforts.

Speaking to saintsfc after penning the deal, he said.

'It's a milestone for me and it's something that I've been aiming for in recent years. It's something which has been talked about and that I've been aiming at for a while so to finally get it signed is a dream come true now. Four years is more than I could've hoped for, so now I'll get my head down to start as soon as possible.'

Of course should he get his Premier League debut in the coming season, his transition truly to the first team will be helped by the fact that he has come thought, and played regularly with the other youngsters in our camp, such as Luke Shaw, James Ward-Prowse et al and that should certainly aide him as he steps up to the next level now.
