Duo Talk Debuts

New signings Dusan Tadic and Shane Long have both spoken following their competitive Saints debuts against Liverpool on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season.

Speaking to saintsfc first, Tadic was pleased with his introduction to Premiership life but did feel that Southampton deserved at least a point from the game.

Having impressed many with his skill and effort on the pitch, and having set up Nathaniel Clyne for our leveller, he explained.

'It was a very tough match, but I think we deserved more, a minimum of one point as we went close to getting all three. At 1-1 we maybe should have got to 2-1 and then it would've been a different match, but it's okay. I think it's important how we played. We were good and I think we enjoyed it and now we believe going into the next game against West Bromwich Albion, we will be ready for it.'

Long himself was now focused on earning his full starting debut for the club having come on towards the end of the second half.

'It felt good to get on the pitch, and I thought the lads were brilliant in the second half. We caused Liverpool all sorts of problems, and if anyone looks like they were going to win it, it was us. We'll work hard this week to build towards West Brom at home and hopefully we'll get the three points then.'
