Koeman - Now For First League Win

Having now picked up our first win of the season in the second round of the Capital One Cup this week against Millwall, manager Ronald Koeman now wants us to build on this victory and get our first three points in the league.

Speaking to saintsfc ahead of our game against West Ham United this weekend, Koeman explained.

'Always important (going for a win) because it's the best way to have confidence. You can talk and you can believe, but points bring a good feeling. We lost to Liverpool and it wasn't a good one against West Bromwich. We have to be prepared because West Ham have started in a good way this season and will be tough to beat, and we are prepared for that, and maybe with a good result, we are in a good way.'

As for the Millwall victory, Koeman goes on to repeat that wins are good for confidence and the fact it came in a different competition still brings plenty of positives because the players will be hoping for a Cup run and the success that can bring, but it will definitely give them a lift now that we have the victory under our belts although he more than accepts West Ham will be a different test.

As for team news, we effectively have a full pack to choose from but Koeman did confirm that Lloyd Isgrove is a fresh doubt for this weekend, but the others who missed the Millwall game are refreshed and raring to go again now.

In his final comments, Koeman was also adamant that Gaston Ramirez would not be going out on loan and nor would Jack Cork be leaving on a permanent basis - despite the speculation in the press this last week.
