Bale Turns Down New Contract???

Bale to Go??

The Guardian newspaper is claiming this morning that talented left back Gareth Bale has turned down the one year contract extension that he was offered in the attempt to keep him at St Mary`s Stadium.

If this is true then it can only be a matter of time before the interested premiership clubs such as Manchester United and Spurs step up there attempts to sign the Welshmen.

This is however in contradiction to what Bales agent David Manasseh was quoted in saying in an interview with the Sun newspaper when he went on record as saying 'I do not know what all the fuss is about, Gareth has 18 months left on his contract, his boss George Burley has said he will not be leaving and he is happy to stay.'

Saints Boss George Burley has constantly repeated his desire to keep Bale and speaking to official saints website, saintsfc.co.uk, he said 'There has been no change on Gareth. I've said all along we want to keep him as long as possible and nothing has changed,' said Burley. 'I spoke to Gareth's parents last week and they are as pleased as punch with the way things are progressing, which was nice to hear.
'He has made great progress this season but he is still only 17 and still has a long way to go`
