Burley Plays Down Scotland Talk

Since Walter Smith's resignation as Scotland manager to join Rangers, many national newspapers in Scotland have been touting popular Southampton boss George Burley as his potential successor.

Burley, who is Scottish, has been swift to play down such reports and is fully focussed on his current task of winning promotion and beating a new-look Burnley in today's 3 o'clock kick-off.

'It is an honour even to be mentioned for the job", he told The Saint (the official Southampton FC radio station), "but I have only been at Southampton for a year and the only thing I am concentrating on is getting the club back to the Premier League."
