Saints release Sarmiento

Saints release Sarmiento

Argentine Midfielder Marcelo Samiento, who was on loan until the end of the season, has been released.

The 27-year-old signed on loan from Athletico Racing De Cordoba with an option for a permanent move.

Sarmiento has struggled to get a first team game throughout the season, and despite the amount of injuries currently at St.Marys he still isn't getting a first team game.

The ball playing star is desperate to get first team football and so his contract here has been cancelled and he will return to South America.

He said, 'I have enjoyed my time in England and I have learned alot, but I need to be playing first team football, and that is my only reason for going.'

He continued 'Southampton is a good club and a nice place to live. I have worked with alot of good people and will take away lots of happy memories.'
