No chance of bumper Cup Crowd

No chance of bumper Cup Crowd

SOUTHAMPTON'S FA Cup match against Manchester City has been switched to Sunday. With Saints left counting the cost.

Southampton's away support will be hit with the move to Sunday and with Saints due 45% of the gate receipts it won't help with the profits.

Head of supporters services David Luker said: 'We've only asked for 3,000 tickets.

'Being on a Sunday will have a big effect on how many fans travel.

'Yes, it's a Premiership club but we've been there before and those going might not get back until the early hours and might have to work the following day'.

Luker, who said as of yesterday morning Saints had told 700 tickets for the tie, added: 'I would expect us to take between 1,500 and 2,000 fans.'

The reason is obvious. Pompey and Southampton both can't do battle with the Mancurians at the same time in the same City. How about Pompey and Saints fans uniting aand watching both games, coming back in harmony together to the South Coast on Sunday night/Monday morning ? No ! Oh well it was worth a try - silly question really.
