Puel On Gabbiadini & Manchester City

Puel On Gabbiadini & Manchester City

Manager Claude Puel has now held his pre game press conference ahead of the clash this weekend against Manchester City and confirmed Italian striker Manolo Gabbiadini returns to his thoughts.

Gabbiadini has been out with a groin problem he picked up in the clash against Tottenham Hotspur last month and whilst he had now returned to training, Puel confirmed to saintsfc that he hadn't yet decided what part he would play in the game.

'He is likely to come back into the squad and we will see if he can start, or perhaps come on in the second-half of the game. We will wait to see this in tomorrow`s training session.'

Steven Davis has also returned to training following the ankle injury he picked up against Crystal Palace.

'For Davo he will be available for the team again.'

Turnnig his eyes more to the test that Manchester City will be, Puel had plenty of praise for opposite number Pep Guardiola.

'Of course, to play against a great manager is very interesting. We played in the Champions League in 2009 also. I know Pep from when he started with Barcelona. We played against him with Lyon. He was a young trainer, but his team was fantastic.'

Puel went on to say.

'We got a draw at home and, unfortunately, we lost 5-2 at Barcelona, but it was fantastic to see his team, his players, the good play, the good recovery of the ball high up the pitch. I think Pep Guardiola changed all of football and gave more opportunities for trainers to think about their football, like recovering the ball high up the pitch. We can see all the teams now trying to put this in place and to have good possession.'

Adding.

'I have a lot of respect for Pep. He has a philosophy of football that I like. I like when the team tries to have possession and to give always the good response on the game, with quality. We can see the different profile of players - for example, they are always technical and intelligent. He is an example for a lot of trainers.'
