Bale Staying... For Now

Burley - 'Gareth will be at our club until the end of the season'

Yet again Saints Boss George Burley has moved to play down the on going transfer speculation regarding Gareth Bale.

Since this transfer window opended nearly every day there has been a new story linking Bale with a move away from Southampton. First the rumours concentrated on Bale going to Manchester United, then they moved on to clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid and most recently Tottenham.

As we reported here on Vital Southampton on saturday Man Utd Boss Alex Ferguson appeared to admit giving up the chase to Spurs, saying that they were the club which had offered more money so they now were leading the race to sign the 17 year old welshmen.

In the wake of this new speculation George Burley has again gone public to play down the rumours. Speaking to the Sky Sports after Saints defeat to Man City Burley said 'Gareth will be at our club until the end of the season and hopefully beyond that,'

'Enough has been said about him already. He is only 17 and games like today's are only a great experience for him.'

I think hes gonna stay, Burley has repeatedly said that Bale is going to stay. I think he'l go in the summer, no doubt about that, but i think hes going to stay past this tranfer window
Saintmike
he will be sold and loaned back...... most probably to the Yidds
bullers
Oh great. Bullers is back. Bring on Feb 1st so we don't have to talk about this any more and get on with a push for promotion. If Bale is good enough (and believe me he is) it will not hurt his career to stay with us for another season and leave when he's more mature. Theo looks like a fish out of water sometimes which is gutting.
