Southampton Linked With Vietto?

It was being reported yesterday that Southampton had opened tentative talks with Atletico Madrid Madrid striker Luciano Vietto.

Sky Sports were one of many to report yesterday that their sources understood we were in talks for the 23 year old.

He moved to Spain from Racing Club in his native Argentina back in 2014 where he initially joined Villarreal - scoring 18 times in 46 appearances - and the following year he linked up again with former Racing manager Diego Simeone at Atletico.

His first season at Atletico saw him make 17 starting appearances with a further 12 showings from the bench but he only returned three goals. In 2016/17 he spent the year out on loan with Sevilla, scoring ten times in 31 appearances.

Our interest I guess stems out the Argentinian tie with Mauricio Pellegrino but also the departure of Jay Rodriguez to West Bromwich Albion leaving us one player light.

It's said Serie A side Sampdoria are also interested in him, but our interest doesn't appear to be concrete from the coverage so far.
