Long Gets Republic Of Ireland Call (14/8/17)

Shane Long has been called up by Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill for the coming international break.

O'Neill has named a 39 man squad for the coming World Cup qualifying Group D matches next month and they play Serbia in Dublin on September 5 before facing Georgia away three days later.

There are a number of recalls for players who missed the last set of matches against Mexico, Uruguay and Austria and there are a couple of debutants who get their first experience of the senior squad.

Republic of Ireland squad:

Darren Randolph (Middlesbrough), Keiren Westwood (Sheffield Wednesday), Rob Elliot (Newcastle United), Colin Doyle (Bradford City).

Defenders:

Cyrus Christie (Middlesbrough), Richard Keogh, Alex Pearce (Derby County), Paul McShane (Reading), Shane Duffy (Brighton & Hove Albion), Ciaran Clark (Newcastle United), John O'Shea (Sunderland), John Egan (Brentford), Greg Cunningham (Preston North End), Kevin Long, Stephen Ward (Burnley), Matt Doherty (Wolverhampton Wanderers).

Midfielders:
