WBA were Burley's choice

SOUTHAMPTON gaffer George Burley has picked a strange moment to announce that WBA were his favourites for promotion.

On the eve of Southampton's vital game away to WBA Burley tolf the official site: 'They were my favourites before the season started because they have a strong squad, especially going forward.

They have top-class strikers in Diomansy Kamara and Kevin Phillips who are both internationals.

'Nathan Ellington is quality and he cannot get in the team. And in Jason Koumas they have one of the best midfield players in the league and as a team they are now fulfilling their potential.

But we have a good away record and we won't be going there with any fear. We will go to compete and to give them problems.'

Not sure about a strange moment, but more like, lets take the pressure off his own players, I think in george burley you hav an excellent manager, who will get you back in the prem sooner or later.
