Big Blow For Burley

Big Blow For Burley

Southampton gaffer George Burley has said that last nights defeat to Coventry has all but ended Saints' automatic promotion push.

The defeat leaves Saints 6th, 6 points behind West Brom who sit 2nd.

Burley told the Echo: 'This defeat is a big blow as far as first or second place is concerned, that is for sure.

'At the start of the season our aim was to finish in the top six and that has not changed.

'We can still do that.

'But losing here is going to make it very hard for us to finish in the top two.'

We need to get a run together, if we could match Sunderland's run we`d be right up there again, not likely but who knows!
