'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Race for the Premiership

The Championship table is as close as ever this season.

With every win, automatic promotion looks like a realistic target, with every defeat the play-offs look a struggle.

Sunderland's recent form has shown what can be achieved if any side can string a few wins together and that is what Southampton need to do now.

Burley told the Echo: 'The top of the Championship table seems to get tighter every week and there are still several clubs who can finish in the top two.

'Last season Reading ran away with it but this season nobody has and that has given several teams a chance.

'It's all to play for still for us and it's nice to be involved at this stage of the season.

'We've got 11 games to try and get promoted - at least 11 anyway - and we've got to be very focussed and try and perform to our best every game.

We are a bit fickle, I'm sure i`ve said the automatic promotion race is over a couple of times already this season! Now it's only 4 points again and we could do it!

its a nerve racking finish for the teams at the top and the teams at the bottom. looks like both our teams are in different battles. good luck with yours

Whoever it is, good luck as I have no grudges with any of the teams at the bottom of this division.

Better to watch than the 2 horse race in the Premiership, getting bit like Scotland in the Prem.
