Keeper Leaves Saints

Keeper Leaves Saints

Saints keeper Alan Blayney has completed a surprise £50,000 move to League One side Doncaster.

Blayney was behind both Antti Niemi and Paul Smith at St Mary's and has previously had two successful spells on loan at Brighton. It was thought he would sign for the Seagulls but has surprisingly joined Dave Penny's side, stating:

'They are a team going up and I could soon be in the Championship with them,'

Blayney's best moment for Saints came when he won the Sky Sports save of the season award for a fantastic save from Alan Shearer, while deputising for Antti Niemi. Despite this he was always struggling to break through at St Mary's due to the very high standard of goalkeepers at the club.
