'If It's Football, It's Vital'

All to play for says Burley

Southampton gaffer George Burley is still confident that Southampton can win promotion this season.

A third straight away defeat for Saints has left them out side of the playoffs for the first time in 2007.

Saints now have two home games in a week to try and turn the form around and start competing for a playoff spot again.

First up at SMS, is Cardiff tomorrow night, followed by Colchester on Saturday.

Burley told the official site: 'With two wins we could be right up there so we have certainly not given up hope of the play-offs.

'It is a very tight league and I still believe the race will go right to the wire. We have to be positive, knuckle down and put some wins together.'

Burley has every right to be confident of promotion, but there again there are 7 other Managers thinking along the same lines. Why shouldn't they, afterall this is the best Promotion race from this division for many years. Burley is not alone in his thoughts, ask Birmingham, Derby, Sunderland, Wolves, West Brom, Preston and Cardiff and maybe Stoke....here the line ends, but it is fascinating, for the neutral.
