Prove the doubters wrong

Southampton gaffer George Burley is aiming to prove the doubters wrong and drag Saints back into the playoff picture.

Talking to the official site he said: 'It is going to be a test of character now. Everyone is writing us off and we have to prove them wrong.

'People will be saying we have no chance after losing at home to Colchester. We were in a position where we had our destiny in our own hands but now it is going to be very difficult.

It was a big set-back and it has left us with a huge challenge. It is a big ask and now we have to show character and give it our best shot.

'We cannot rely on others to do us favours, we have to do it ourselves. It is a challenge I am looking forward to and I am sure the players will do too.

They know what is at stake and we now have two weeks to get back to basics and turn it around.'
