Bale set for Welsh outing

Bale set for Welsh outing

Despite plies from Southampton gaffer George Burley to rest the 17 year old, Wales manager John Toshack insists that Bale will play.

Toshack told the press: 'Bale has played virtually every game for Southampton since October, but the last couple of friendlies for us we have not played him. We felt it was best to leave him out.

''Maybe he could have been rested a bit more by his club over the last few months'.

Meanwhile, caught in the middle is the 17 year old young player of the year, who is now set to play for Wales against the Republic of Ireland. The match will be played at Croke Park, Dublin, in front of 80,000.

But Bale isn't daunted of the situation as he told the Echo: 'It really does not worry me, I'll just concentrate on my game and hope that Wales can collect the six points over the next two games, The Republic of Ireland is just another game of football and we need to win the match and then enjoy the occasion'.
