Britain's best sculptor Philip Jackson has revealed that a lot of other sculptors could have done better than Ian Brennan.
Not only that but he insists that the Ted Bates trust should start the project again!
Ian Brennan has suggested to make the legs longer by 5 inches and to make further adjustments, with the cost coming from his own pocket.
But Jackson told the Echo: 'It is still my opinion that if Southampton want a good sculpture and wish to avoid further embarrassment, they must bite the bullet and start again.'
'There are an awful lot of good sculptors that could do a better job, so this is a missed opportunity. A few fundamental mistakes were made and to start with whoever chose the sculptor should have made sure he'd done similar work before.'
