Tottenham set to sign Bale?

Reports now suggest that Manchester United will continue their interests in signing Gareth Bale.

The 17 year old Welsh International was recently named in the Championship squad of the season:

Matt Murray (Wolves), Graham Alexander (Preston), Gareth Bale (Southampton), Darren Moore (Derby), Curtis Davies (West Brom), Jason Koumas (West Brom), Carlos Edwards (Sunderland), Dean Whitehead (Sunderland), Diomansy Kamara (West Brom), Michael Chopra (Cardiff), Gary McSheffrey (Birmingham).

During the January transfer window Spuds, reportedly had a £10 million offer for Bale accepted, with some reports suggesting a possible loan move back to SMS next season.

But without a bidding war for the left back, if Saints are forced to sell, the fee could well be half of what was on offer 3 months ago.

Comes to something when even Southampton fans call us Spuds, doesn' it...! It would be a great acquisition for us, but I would wonder whether the boy will have his heart in it when he pulls on the lilywhite shirt....
Othello
He won't he isn't going anywhere!
Giddyred
well giddyred thats sewn that up no need for any more speculation
buckers_07
Think he's heart is on Man U, although i dont think he would play much for a few years. Spurs would certainly offer him the opportunity and he would be a member of a very happy and progressive squad. Wouldn't want to sell him if i was a saint ~ but no doubt the money will come in very handy for you guys?
Hotspur
Keep him. He's crap and will be playing champions*****e football next season along with all the losers form te south coast. Have you fellow 'spuds' ever noticed that ther is only one southhampton fan?
bullers
Hope Man U do pull out, that will teach you a lesson for trying to be the big boys and make us spend stupid money on him, dont you know we are the only ones who can get away with these tricks, ala Carrick! Hope we get him for £2.5mil now and sell him to ManUre in about 2 years for 15 mil!
Gavaldinho
don't want him. Unproven at any decent level. Only way I would want him would be at like £2m... no thank you.
The Tailor
According to Vital Colchester u want to sign Cureton too!
Matt_Us
How good is the boy anyone??? Yeh Ive seen a video floating about on Youtube but can he defend well?? Is he Premiership standard??
matt..shelfsidespurs
Why stay at the Stains? It's a joke club on the South Coast! He'll be at WHL come the summer.
its quiet at the lib
He'll be a great player in a few years, needs work on his defending but that's mostly cos he's high up the pitch attacking. I hope he doesn't go the same way as Walcott where moving to a big club stunts his progress... His stock has gone down since January though.
Saintj81
If he actually spends more time attacking than defending, then he might be our answer to our problems on the left wing. Maybe.
Othello
Over rated
Irish Yid
The lad is 17! How can he be over rated? He is already good enough to perform at international level and he is only going to get better, but only if he stays at Saints to develop his game rather than leaving too early like Theo Walcott.
Giddyred
But... Southampton must be fed up with having to sell thier best prospects- it's true about his age. People said Halford was over rated, but he's also young. You pay big money for the potential. Also, so far, he's a more Ashley Cole attacking than Wayne Brigde deffending, if that makes sense. He's woth about 6 million, i think. And Man U don't need him, he sould sign a deal and then come back out on loan to Saints. Everyone's happy!
