Ball laid to rest

Alan Ball's funeral and memorial service takes place at Winchester Cathedral today.

Saints Captain Claus Lundekvam is targeting promotion to give Alan a big send off.

He told the Echo: 'He's going to be sorely missed and there won't be a better way to give Bally a real send-off than for us to win on Sunday and get ourselves in the play-offs,' said Lundekvam.

'Alan would have loved to be there on Sunday and cheer us on. His very sad death is another incentive for us to try even a bit harder to try and get to the Premiership this season.

He would have loved that.'
