No Blame on Best

No Blame on Best

Andrew Surman and Martin Cranie have come to the defence of striker Leon Best.

Best had what is scientifically named as a shocker.

He was continually offside, scored an own goal and then missed his penalty during the shootout.

Best has received a huge amount of stick from Southampton supporters, but teammates Surman and Cranie have bother jumped to support him.

Surman told the Echo: 'Leon always scores his penalties in training but this was very different.

'There was so much pressure and there is no blame on his shoulders at all. He put himself in the firing line and had a go and unfortunately it did not go in.

There is no blame on anyone. We are all in it together and all desperately disappointed because we deserved better.'

Cranie added: 'Leon Best has scored some vital goals to get us this far so no-one is going to blame him at all.

You have to give credit to all the penalty takers for having the bottle to do it.'
