Burley wants Baird to stay
Southampton gaffer George Burley is hopeful he can persuade Chris Baird to remain at SMS.
Burley told the Echo: Chris is a top class professional and I've got on very well with him since I got here.
'He hardly played any games before I arrived and I think he's responded to my style of management, so working with him won't be a problem.'
Baird handed in a transfer request 2 weeks ago, after Southampton rejected a �1 million bid for him by Premiership side Fulham.
